The Lawrence School, Lovedale is an educational institution in Lovedale, located near Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu, India, and named for its founder, Sir Henry Montgomery Lawrence.Lawrence had mooted the idea about the establishment of a chain of schools to provide education to the children of the deceased and serving soldiers and officers of the British army.
Lawrence was killed in the Indian Mutiny of 1857, also called India's First War of Independence.

Sir Henry's dream took shape and four such schools, known as Lawrence Asylum, were established in India: at Sanawar in 1847, and at Mount Abu in 1856, both during his lifetime; then at Lovedale, Ootacamund in 1858 and at Ghora Gali, Murree, in present-day Pakistan in 1860.

The Lawrence School, Sanawar, is a private boarding school in Himachal Pradesh, established in 1847, whose history, influence, and wealth have made it one of the most prestigious schools in Asia.
It is located in the Kasauli Hills, District of Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India. Sanawar is about an hour drive from Chandigarh and six hours from New Delhi. The school was founded by Sir Henry Lawrence and his wife Honoria, is one of the oldest surviving boarding schools.

As the school is located in Sanawar, the school is popularly called "Sanawar". It is situated at a height of 1750 meters and spread over an area of 139 acres, heavily forested with pine, deodar and other conifer trees.

It is located close to the town of Madanapalle, Krishnamurti's birthplace, in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Rishi Valley is a three-hour drive from Bangalore and five hours from Chennai.

The school follows the ICSE board for the ninth and tenth grades and the ISC for the eleventh and twelfth grades. The school accepts students from the fourth through the twelfth grades (ages nine–eighteen).
